Booking and prices
How much are lessons?
£40 for a one-hour, one-to-one lesson.
Do I have to book a block of lessons?
No. Every lesson is paid for individually, so book as often as suits you, whether that’s weekly, fortnightly or whenever life allows.
How do I pay?
I’ll send you an invoice to pay online, or you can bring cash if preferred.
What if I need to cancel?
Please try to give 24 hours notice.
When are lessons available?
Generally weekdays between 9 and 7, but please get in touch and we’ll find a time that suits you.
About lessons
Who are lessons for?
Adults and students aged 16 and over, from complete beginners to advanced players.
Do you teach under-16s?
Occasionally, by arrangement. Get in touch and we can talk it through.
I’ve never played before. Is that OK?
Absolutely. Most beginners are playing simple grooves along to real music, and reading the basics, within a couple of lessons.
I played years ago. Can I pick it up again?
Yes, and returning players often progress fast. We’ll shake off the rust and fix any habits that held you back.
Do you teach for grade exams?
My lessons focus on becoming a real musician rather than working through exam syllabuses. If you’re working towards an exam, though, I’m happy to help you prepare for it.
Kit and practice
Do I need my own drum kit?
Not to start with. It’s a big investment, so you need to make sure that it’s for you! We’ll discuss practice options at our first session.
What should I bring?
No need to bring anything initially, though if you have your own sticks that would be ideal.
How much should I practise?
Little and often beats one long session. Patience and persistence is the important thought for progress.
How quickly will I improve?
It depends on how much you practise between lessons, but most beginners are playing along to music within a couple of lessons.
